Virtual reality (VR) is an immersive technology that places you inside a computer-generated 3D environment. At Escape To VR, you'll wear a wireless VR headset and use hand controllers to interact with virtual worlds. Our state-of-the-art free-roaming technology tracks your movements, allowing you to walk around freely in our 400+ sq ft play areas while exploring amazing virtual environments. Do I need any prior VR experience?

No experience necessary! Our friendly staff provides a complete tutorial before every session. We'll teach you how to use the equipment, navigate in VR, and play your chosen game. Most people pick it up within 2-3 minutes. Check out our VR rules and instructions to get a preview of what to expect.
What should I wear to my VR session?

Wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in - you'll be walking, reaching, and possibly ducking! Closed-toe shoes are required (no sandals or flip-flops). Avoid loose jewelry, dangling earrings, or accessories that might interfere with the VR headset. We provide all VR equipment including headsets, controllers, and haptic vests for certain games. What should I bring?

Just bring yourself and an adventurous spirit! We provide all VR equipment. You may want to bring a hair tie if you have long hair. Leave valuables in your car or use our secure storage area. If you wear glasses, no problem - our headsets are designed to accommodate most eyewear comfortably.
Can I wear glasses during VR?

Yes! Our VR headsets are designed to accommodate most glasses comfortably. The headsets have adjustable straps and facial interfaces that work well with eyewear. If you have particularly large frames, you may want to bring contact lenses as an alternative, but most glasses wearers have no issues.

How do I book a session?

You can browse our VR experiences and book online 24/7, or call/text us at (760) 625-0055. Online booking gives you instant confirmation and lets you see all available time slots. We recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance, especially for weekends and holidays when slots fill up quickly.
How much does a VR session cost?

Prices start at $33 per person for most experiences. Pricing varies by game type and session length (30-60 minutes). Birthday party packages and group bundles offer better value for larger groups. Check our games page for current pricing on specific experiences. We also offer add-ons like extra time, photo packages, and party room rentals.
What's your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made 24+ hours in advance receive a full refund. Cancellations made 4-24 hours in advance receive a 50% refund or full credit toward a future booking. Cancellations less than 4 hours before your session or no-shows are not eligible for refunds. We're flexible with rescheduling - just contact us!
How long are the gaming sessions?

Most VR experiences run 30-60 minutes of gameplay. This includes actual playtime inside VR. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early for check-in, waiver signing, and equipment fitting. For the full experience including briefing and gear-up, budget about 75-90 minutes total for a single game, or 2-2.5 hours for back-to-back games.
Do you accept walk-ins?

Yes, we welcome walk-ins when space is available! However, we can't guarantee availability without a reservation. Weekday afternoons typically have more walk-in availability. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and cash. Gift cards purchased from our website can also be redeemed for bookings. You can also check your gift card balance online.

What's the difference between VR Escape Rooms and Action Games?

VR Escape Rooms focus on puzzle-solving, exploration, and teamwork - you'll investigate environments, find clues, and solve mysteries to 'escape' before time runs out. Action Games are more fast-paced with combat elements - you'll be shooting zombies, battling enemies, or competing against friends. Both are multiplayer and immersive, just different gameplay styles!
Which games are best for beginners?

These are family-friendly escape rooms with moderate movement and clear objectives. Can I play the same game multiple times?

Absolutely! While escape rooms may have the same puzzles, many players enjoy replaying to beat their previous time or try different strategies. How many people can play together?

Most of our VR experiences support 2-6 players simultaneously in the same virtual world. You'll see and interact with your teammates as avatars, making it perfect for team building, birthday parties, or group outings. For groups larger than 6, we can run multiple sessions back-to-back or book multiple time slots.
Do you offer birthday party packages?

Yes! Our birthday packages are very popular and include VR gaming sessions, a private party room, and optional add-ons like pizza, cake, decorations, and photo packages. We offer kids birthday parties (ages 8-12), teen parties, and adult celebrations. Party packages typically run 2-3 hours and can accommodate 6-20+ guests. What is the minimum age to play VR?

Our minimum age is 8 years old for VR experiences. This is based on VR headset fit and the cognitive ability to follow game instructions. Children ages 8-12 must have a parent or guardian present at the venue (though adults don't need to play). Ages 13+ can participate without a guardian present if a waiver is signed in advance.
What games are best for kids ages 8-12?

Is there a maximum age for VR?

No maximum age! We've had guests in their 70s and 80s enjoy VR with us. VR can be enjoyed by anyone in reasonable health. For seniors or those with mobility concerns, we can suggest seated experiences or games with minimal movement. Our staff will ensure everyone has a comfortable, safe experience.

Is VR safe?

Yes, VR is very safe when used properly! Our equipment is professional-grade and regularly maintained. Our play areas are padded and obstacle-free. Staff monitors all sessions to ensure safety. Review our safety guidelines and rules for complete details. The most common issue is minor motion sickness for first-timers, which typically subsides within minutes.
What about motion sickness?

Some people experience mild motion sickness during their first VR session, especially in games with lots of movement. This usually goes away quickly as your brain adjusts. Tips to minimize it: stay hydrated, take breaks if needed, focus on a fixed point when feeling dizzy, and start with less intense games. Let our staff know if you're concerned - we'll recommend games with minimal motion.
Who should NOT play VR?

We advise caution for: pregnant women, people with heart conditions, those prone to seizures or epilepsy, people with inner ear disorders, those with severe motion sickness, and anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you have health concerns, please consult your doctor before playing or discuss with our staff.
How do you clean and sanitize equipment?

We take hygiene seriously! All VR headsets, controllers, and accessories are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between every session using hospital-grade disinfectants. We also provide disposable face covers for the headsets. Our equipment cleaning protocol exceeds CDC guidelines.
What happens if I feel uncomfortable during a session?

You can stop at any time! Just remove your headset or raise your hand and our staff will assist you immediately. There's no pressure to continue if you're not enjoying yourself. We can pause, switch games, or end your session - whatever makes you comfortable. Your enjoyment and safety are our top priorities.

We're located at 2365 Marron Rd, Carlsbad, CA 92008. We're easily accessible from I-5 and Highway 78, just off El Camino Real. Look for the Escape To VR sign! We're about 30 minutes from downtown San Diego and 15 minutes from Oceanside. Get detailed directions and a map.
Is parking available?

Yes! We have free parking right on-site with 50+ spaces. Our dedicated lot is steps from the entrance - no meters, no fees, no time limits. Accessible parking spaces are available near the entrance. See our parking guide and map.
What are your hours?

We're open 7 days a week! Monday-Tuesday: 12:30 PM - 9:00 PM, Wednesday-Friday: 12:00 PM - 9:30 PM, Saturday: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM, Sunday: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM. Hours may vary on holidays - check our hours page or call to confirm.
Is the facility accessible?

What VR equipment do you use?

We use professional-grade wireless VR headsets with inside-out tracking technology. Our free-roaming experiences use backpack PCs for untethered movement. For certain action games, we also provide haptic vests that let you feel impacts in-game! All equipment is top-of-the-line and regularly updated.
What is 'free-roaming' VR?

Free-roaming VR means you can physically walk around in the virtual environment - there are no cables tethering you to a computer. Our play areas are 400+ square feet, allowing natural movement that makes VR incredibly immersive. You walk in real life, you walk in the game! Explore our free-roaming VR experiences.
Can I bring my own VR headset?

No, we use our own professional equipment that's calibrated for our specific play spaces and games. Our equipment is optimized for the free-roaming multiplayer experiences we offer, which wouldn't work with consumer headsets. Trust us - our gear is better than anything at home!
Do you have any single-player experiences?

While most of our games are designed for multiplayer (and are more fun with friends!), some can be played solo. Our action games and certain escape rooms work with a single player.
